Want to buy the basic version to put on bf's phone to check his SMS messages.

How do I check which version of iPhone we have (I assume mine is the same as his)?

How do I check if it needs jailbreaking?

How long will I realistically need his iPhone in order to install software? He rarely rarely is without his phone?

We are in England. Will this make a difference?
