Hi Krissy,
Well the good news is that the Motorola Q uses Windows Mobile 5.0. This means you have a variety of options to choose from if you want to purchase spy phone software to find out what he's discussing in his text messages.
Here is a link to where I verified the OS of the Motorola Q.
Motorola Q (Verizon Wireless) specs and Smartphone specifications - CNET Reviews If you scroll down you will see a section that says 'Communicator Features' which then lists Windows Mobile 5.0 as the OS.
Now in regards to the software, you can go with either Mobile Spy or Flexispy. Both companies sell spyware for Winidows Mobile based phones.
Flexispy prices range from $150 for their basic version which gives you the ability to read text messages, look into his call history, etc. You can then go up to their PRO version which adds on GPS tracking and remote room monitoring, or go all out and get their top of the line PROX version which as live call interception.
Mobile Spy starts at $49.97 for a 3 month license, and gives you the ability to read his text messages, call history, & GPS tracking.
If you don't need remote monitoring or call interception, Mobile Spy's product is a good low cost solution, that works well on Windows Mobile phones. However, if you want to be able to secretly activate his phone or tap into his calls, then go with Flexispy.
Also, make sure you will be able to access his phone. Without physical access to his phone (this includes getting past any type of PIN lock), you will not be able to install any type of software. Don't buy anything until you can verify that you will have physical access for at least a good 15-30 min.
Good luck.
